Opryland Hotel

Over the Thanksgiving weekend we decided to go see the lights at the Opryland Hotel.  Growing up going to see the lights at the Opryland Hotel was one of my favorite holiday traditions.  I remember the traffic was backed up for miles to see the lights.  It used to be a tradition for Thanksgiving eve with my grandparents.

We try to keep the tradition of going on with my family.  But, the lights seem to be less and less each year.  Maybe it's that I am getting older and remember things differently.

We walked around looking at the lights. The Opryland is so big. Lots of fun to see the kids so excited to be out and about.
We found three trees that each one of kids wanted to stand in front of. We got a bit silly as we walked around looking at the lights.

We found the trail that led to walk underneath the water fall.
After all that walking it was time to take a break and get a cookie. The cookie part was a surprise to them. After the cookies it was time to head back home.

The Christmas season is officially started.

Putting up the Christmas Tree

We have started a normal tradition that we use Thanksgiving morning and begin decorating the house for Christmas.  We started a new tradition this year on Thanksgiving.  Michael and I ran the BoroDash.  We got up early and headed over to MTSU for the race.  It was a chilly, foggy morning.  We parked and headed to the starting line.  This was Michael's first race.  (you can read more about this race in the Run Scott Run blog.

After our race, we put up the Christmas Tree.

Time to put up the tree!

Hard to believe it is time to put the tree up.  I am really looking forward to this year.  Michael is 8, Josh is 5 and Kayla is 3; the perfect ages to have a great Christmas.  Can't wait to see what this holiday season has in store for us.

Our family has traditionally put the tree up while we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.  This year was no different.  I started the day off by getting the large wardrobe boxes full of Christmas decorations down.  Heather and I are very organized in getting our Christmas decorations down.  I bring the boxes down and line them up in the Dinning room.  Heather then starts emptying the boxes while I put up the Christmas tree.
